Create a Google Form and text it to your peers. Ideally, you want 150 student responses if your school has 1,500 to 2,500 students.

Ask students 3 easy questions:

1. Do you know what an AED is?
2. Do you know where the AEDs are located at your school?
3. Do you know how to use it?

Yes. Here is a sample email you can adapt and send to your principal.

In 2024, California Assembly Bill No. 3262 was passed. This bill requires that when an AED is placed in a public or private school serving grades 6 to 12, the principal must, at least annually, notify pupils of the location of all AED units on campus.

• If you belong to a charity organization (such as Amigos, Sandpipers, or NCL), ask if you can speak at an event.
• Ask to speak at your local church or youth group.
• If you play a club sport, see if you can speak before or after practice.
• Reach out to your local fire department for support. They are often happy to attend events and can offer CPR certification.
• Tell all your friends that anyone can use an AED. Just turn it on.
• Become CPR certified.
